About Stephen

Bio:

Stephen Bourque began his Yoga journey in 2019 while first trying to become more flexible while rock climbing. Since he entered the world of fitness and energy practice- his goals, aspirations, and physical ability have changed drastically. However, it was not until 2023 that Stephen really deepened his yoga practice on a more spiritual and fundamental level. Having studied Philosophy for most of his young academic career – it was only a matter of time before yogic philosophy would resonate with him. The depth and grandeur of yogic texts and teachings is vast and always carries new lessons. He strongly believes that Yoga and energetic practices can give one the tools and space to heal and manage life with less unnecessary suffering.

There is a large amount of literature on Yogic philosophy and Stephen is always open to exploring this with his students. In addition – he believes that consistent practice can bring about radical changes in energy, spirituality and lead to feelings of interconnection and an improved empathetic disposition. Through postures, nature, receptivity and metaphor – Stephen likes to cultivate a sacred atmosphere of kindness, self-love, and community through his teaching. Formally, Stephen has completed his YTT-200 (vinyasa based) under Heather Campbell and has 40 hours of training for yoga nidra .

Stephen also has a deep interest and knowledge of the major texts and teachings of Taoist and Zen Buddhist philosophy in addition to Traditional Chinese Medicine. His continuing studies in Taoist philosophy continually influence and affect his day to day practice as well as teaching. In order to deepen his understanding of traditional Chinese medicine, he is currently enrolled and studying in a Doctorate of Acupuncture program at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science and is participating in a 300-hour Yin Yoga teacher training (150 hours completed).
